Street Fighter: The Movie (retitled Street Fighter: Real Battle on Film for its Japanese console release) is a 1995 fighting game based on the 1994 movie based on the hugely popular fighting game Street Fighter II by Capcom. The game used realistic, digitized graphics, trying to capitalize on the success of Mortal Kombat. Street Fighter: The Movie was co-developed by Capcom and Incredible Technologies and published by Capcom (in Japan) and Acclaim (in the US).

[edit] Gameplay
The game came in two forms, the arcade version and the home version released for the Sega Saturn and the PlayStation. Both games used digitized graphics, a bulk of the same characters and many of the special moves from Street Fighter II. The similarities would end there.
[edit] Arcade version
While Capcom put their name on the cabinet, they had virtually nothing to do with creation of this game. Incredible Technologies designed all the animation and stages and created all the music. Controls for special moves are modeled after both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. For example some moves are used by doing down, down/forward and forward (D, DF, F) and punch or kick on the control stick. Other moves are done by just doing forward and forward (F, F) on the control stick as done in Mortal Kombat. The special moves and super moves are added to familiar characters with the MK style of activation. Some of the moves involve characters using weapons that were not featured in the movies or original games. There are also three types of super moves, Blue Super Combos which are the original super moves, Red Super Combos, more damaging moves that usually are activated with Mortal Kombat style moments on the control stick and finally ReGen, a move that recharges the player's life bar. This was the first Street Fighter game to have more than one super combo. The game's cast is Ryu, Vega, Guile, Sagat, Ken, E. Honda, Chun-Li, Cammy, Sawada, Balrog, Blade, Bison, Akuma and Zangief. Arkane, F7 and Khyber appear as secret characters. Super Bison is also a secret character, but cannot be selected without modifying the game's code in some way.

Capcom and Williams/Midway did the console versions, drastically changing the game from what it appeared as in its arcade counterpart, including music and stages. They also used Japanese voice actors that sounded like the voices of the original characters. Capcom also reprogrammed the game engine making it very similar to Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Movie Battle is an additional game choice where the player can play as Guile. The player is given choices of places to go by Cammy facing other Street Fighters, eventually reaching Bison in one final battle. Movie Battle has no limits in continues if the player loses, but like in the movie, Guile's working with an expiring time limit. The game's cast is Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chun-Li, E. Honda, Balrog, Vega, Sawada, Cammy, Blanka, Zangief, Dee Jay, Sagat and Bison, with Akuma as a secret character.

Only 18 characters appear in the arcade version of the game, though many rumors came up speculating there to be more. The only true hidden character that can't be selected normally or by a code is, in fact, the boss version of Bison ("Super Bison"). If you cheat to control him and beat the game, you'll get Blanka's ending from the game, leading to the possibility that Blanka was planned for this game, but cut ultimately. Digging through the game's data with artmoney or MAME's cheats has not yielded Fei-Long or hinted character Snake as playable characters (Snake actually seems to be nothing more that an attempt to spread a rumor, much like the "Kano Transformations" gag with Mortal Kombat).
There is, however, a secret debug stage in the game, which shows the characters on a parallaxed white floor, and debug numbers on the screen. This stage can only be reached through MAME cheats or artmoney.
