Terence Etherton

Sir Terence Etherton (born 1951) is a British High Court judge.
He was educated at St Paul's School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
He was in the British Sabre team from 1977 to 1980 and qualified for the Moscow Olympics.
He was called to the Bar by Gray's Inn in 1974 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1990.
He was appointed as a High Court Judge in 2001 and assigned to the Chancery Division.
He was the first High Court Judge to announce in The Times (8 February 2006) his entry into a civil partnership under the Civil Partnership Act.
In August 2006 he was appointed Chairman of the Law Commission, the statutory independent body created by the Law Commissions Act 1965 to keep the law under review and to recommend reform where it's needed.
