My name is Rachel, but I wish my name was Lorenzo or Oswaldo. I am short, pale, and near-sighted. I'm a fifteen-year old girl struggling with depression (genetically inherited, chemical-imbalance, trying-to-find-pills-that-work depression, not "my boyfriend dumped me and my life is a dark pit of darkness" depression). I am in high school and the only thing I am actually learning from it is the German language. I like to read (Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman, Douglas Adams, George Orwell, Lewis Carrol, J.K. Rowling, Lemony Snicket, Anthony Burgess, and Chuck Palahniuk, to name a few) and am an amateur writer and artist. I also like a lot of music. I have an extremely eclectic taste, from the Beatles to Madonna to Cradle of Filth to Modest Mouse. I think that music is music and I don't care what you listen to. Although I am fairly certain that bands like From First to Last, Taking Back Sunday, and Hawthorne Heights are responsible for the death of modern music. I am pretty misanthropic, but I can tolerate humans as long as they're not mean, stupid, or obnoxious. I have very little tolerance for boring, insecure, or ignorant people. Extreme liberals annoy me just as much as extreme conservatives. People who mention how they're gay or bisexual as the very first thing about them in their profiles annoy me. If the most interesting thing about you is your sexual orientation, you need a better personality. I have a cat named Luvy who occasionally attempts to kill mice. I like unicorns, pie, and Belgium. I really cannot relate to most people my age, and I've found that my closest friends are all either ten years older than me or in the same predicament that I am in. My parents are divorced. I really can't stand my mother. I have quite possibly the coolest father ever. He watches Adult Swim every night, randomly shouts out "BUTTSEX!" and is known to talk about pickled fetuses. I inherited my sense of humor from him. I wear primarily black and gray-colored clothing because it's much simpler than wearing colors. I am somewhat unusual and have slight sociopathic tendencies.
