Tagant Plateau
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tagant Plateau lies in eastern Mauritania, forming a stony part of the Sahara Desert. Some towns such as Tichit, Moudjéria and Rachid, lie at the foot of its slopes – cliffs in some places – while Tidjikdja and Kiffa lie on the Tagant itself. The plateau is also known for its desert crocodiles, but the population seems to have been last seen in 1996.
The Tagant region is named for the plateau.
