T.E. Donges

Dr Theophilus Ebenhaezer Dönges (b. 1898 d. 1968) was the man elected to succeed Dr C.R. Swart as State President of South Africa. He was elected on 28 February 1967 by a vote of 163 - 52 in the electoral college. As he was very ill when he was elected, he was never inaugurated. Some people count him in the succession of State Presidents of South Africa, whereas others do not.
