String breast implant
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
String breast implants, also known as polypropylene implants, are a form of breast implant not currently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Although string breast implants were available for a very limited time several years ago, doctors no longer offer string breast implants in the United States.
Intended for individuals wishing to obtain extreme breast sizes, string breast implants will continue to grow even after they are implanted, and can result in abnormally large breasts; string breast implants have brought about the largest recorded increases in breast size due to surgical augmentation. They were developed by Dr. Gerald W. Johnson, but were available for only a short time.
The common name for the implants derives from their similarity to silly string. The implants are made of polyurethane, a synthetic material which will absorb fluids and expand once inside the body. As fluid is absorbed into the implants, they will undergo almost continuous growth. Women who have received string breast implants are usually attempting to enlarge their bustline to greatly exaggerated proportions, and are likely to work in the adult entertainment industry. Men and women interested in string breast implants may be interested in breast expansion fetishism.
Due to a number of medical complications, string breast implants are not currently approved by the FDA, and are no longer available in the United States.
