Steevi Jaimz Tigertailz

Steevi Jaimz Tigertailz is a British Glam Rock band formed by Steevi Jaimz and Ace Finchum. Steevi Jaimz is the lead singer of the group and is also a solo artist in his own right. In the mid-1980's, he was the lead vocalist for the Cardiff-based band, Tigertailz. At his suggestion, Steevi's friend Ace Finchum was hired as the band's drummer.

[edit] Early Years
Tigertailz acquired Steevi Jaimz in 1985 after he responded to an advert in Sounds Magazine placed by original members Jay Pepper, Pepsi Tate and Ian Welsh. Having parted company with previous vocalists Jim Dovey and Phil Harling
Stevie had been playing in a band called Crash KO and had spent some time in the US where he also played with Ace Finchum on drums.
After Stevie joined the band the Tailz recorded a new Demo but things weren't working in the 'drumming department' and it was agreed that a new drummer would benefit the band longer term. Inevitably, Ian Welsh was asked to leave the band.
The band were now stuck for a drummer. Fortunately, Steevi was friends with some of the band Tokyo Blade and asked their drummer Steve Pearce if he would play on the Demo. Steve kindly agreed and this turned in to the 'Shoot to Kill' Demo
This Tigertailz line-up recorded the Shoot To Kill EP. After recording the new Demo Steevi convinced Ace Finchum to fly to Wales to become the newest Tailz member
The band released “Shoot to Kill” as a Single on their own TT Records. The B sides to the single were “She’z too Hot” and “Living Without you”.
This led to the band's signing with the Music For Nations record label, whereupon they recorded the album Young And Crazy in 1987. This album featured the track Livin' Without You, which eventualy found some success having been re-recorded by the band to feature Steevi’s future replacement Kim Hooker and went on to becomee one of Tigertailz' most famous songs.
Young And Crazy was also released as a double-sided picture disc, an honour usually reserved only for singles. Since that time, an album's worth of previously unreleased material from this era of Tigertailz has been released under the banner of Tigertailz - Original Sin.
However, irreconcilable differences within the band led to Steevi's departure, whereupon he embarked on a solo career. Ace Finchum continued in Tigertailz for a few years playing on their top 40 album “Bezerk”.

As Tigertailz, now featuring former Rankelson bassist turned vocalist, Kim Hooker, continued on to top 40 success with their “Bezerk” album , Steevi Jaimz recorded the Kick The Habit EP in 1989.
This promising single proved to be Steevis last appearance on vynal for many years and was not followed up untill 2001 with Steevis only post Tigertailz album length release "Damned If I Do ... Damned If I Don't", a recording which included all the tracks from the Kick The Habit EP, some early unreleased Tigertailz material plus demos from additional solo projects Jaimz Gang and War Party.

Since then, 1980's Glam Rock has undergone a revival in certain parts of Europe. With Ace Finchum once again available to play drums, Steevi and Ace have taken the opportunity to rekindle the magic of the early Tigertailz recordings, whilst also looking to the future.
Their former bandmates opting not to participate in Steevis version of Tigertailz, Steevi Jaimz and Ace Finchum went about creating a new Tigertailz joining forces with bassist Greg Karnage and guitarist Joolz, who had previously played with Steevi in his sols band.
This line up recorded the “King of The World” EP. Joolz opted to leave the band soon after and was quickly replaced first by former Crash KO and Wrathchild guitarist Phil Volkins. Volkins never recorded or gigged with the band and was hastily replaced in favour of Marcus Thurston and bassist Darayuz Kaye, Greg having now switched to guitars. Marcus Thurston stint in the band also proved to be short lived dissapearing from photographs and the bands website sometime around 2005.
Blending the androgynous image of the 1980's with modern sounds and attitude, this new line-up has been well received at gigs in Europe, particularly in Stockholm and Venice. They have written and recorded new material in their Stockholm studio with a view to securing a recording contract.
However, Tigertailz, featuring the original Tailz members Jay Pepper and Pepsi Tate once again with vocalist Kim Hooker has resurfaced using the Tigertailz name once more.
A court ruling made in 2006 found in favour of the Kim Hooker fronted band and Steevi was forced to stop using the Tigertailz name, adopting the stop-gap name Steevi Jaimz Tigertailz. It is not certain weather Steevi will attempt to continue on with this title or adopt another.
