South Hills High School (often known by its abbreviation, SHHS) is a public coeducational high school located in the hills in the eastern part of West Covina, California (although there is a common misconception that it is in Covina), east of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley. South Hills High School is part of the Covina-Valley Unified School District.
The school's high academic and athletic reputation as one of the top schools in the area is a prime selling point for real estate in Covina and West Covina. It is also considered the best and most affluent high school in the Covina/West Covina area. It attracts a large number of transfer students who would otherwise attend other nearby high schools such as West Covina High School and Northview High School. Students even commute from as far away as Chino, Rancho Cucamonga, and Fontana to attend South Hills.

During the 2005-2006 school year, there were 2,026 students. The school has had problems with overcrowding in recent years, a side effect of its reputation. By comparison, there were 1,311 students during the 1994-1995 school year. During that time, there has been a large and noticeable decrease in the percentage of white students, possibly due to the white flight that has afflicted the San Gabriel Valley (although there are numerically more). At the same time, there has been the same type of increase in the number and percentage of Hispanic students. South Hills also has a large number of Asian American students, who are of mainly of Chinese, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese descent. There are also sizable numbers of Filipino, Arab, and African American students.

The school's great academic reputation has attracted many transfer students. There are several courses available at South Hills that are not available at other nearby schools, which is especially true for some of its AP course offerings. As of the 2004-2005 school year, it is the only high school in the Covina-Valley Unified School District that offers AP Calculus BC, AP Environmental Science, AP Studio Art, AP French, AP Computer Science, and AP World History. A large percentage of the student body takes at least one honors or AP course during the school year.

South Hills High School has a fine athletic tradition, and its teams have won many CIF championships. Its football and baseball teams are especially well-regarded. The wrestling team won the California state championship in 1981. The following sports are available at South Hills:
