Societas Eruditorum

In the works of Neal Stephenson, the fictional Societas Eruditorum (Latin for "Society of the Erudites") was a German organisation set up to produce similar results to the British Royal Society.
It has been referenced in several of Stephenson's books, notably Cryptonomicon, in which the motto "Ignoti et quasi occulti" is used. The suggested translation is: "Unknown and partially hidden".
Their fictional Internet domain is eruditorum.org.
