From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Shute Shield is a rugby union competition in Sydney, New South Wales. It and the Tooheys New Cup are the premier grade rugby trophies in NSW rugby. The Shute Shield is awarded in the first half of the Sydney club season. The trophy was formerly awarded to the premiers of the 1st grade Sydney competition.
The Shield is contested by the twelve NSWRU clubs and, from 2006, the Illawarriors and Central Coast Waves.
