Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology has approximately 90,000 part-time and 17,000 full-time students. With more than 100,000 students, Seneca is Canada's largest college which offers programs in more than 260 career fields. The College is located in the Greater Toronto Area, with Newnham Campus being the main and biggest campus for Seneca. Seneca has two residence buildings, a 1,107-bed residence located at Newnham Campus, and a 233-bed residence located at King Campus. Housing Services assists students in finding accommodations near all Seneca College campuses.

[edit] Computer Access

Seneca College has the largest computer studies program and more computers than any other college in Canada. Seneca@York and Newnham Campus have close to 300 networked computer workstations each in the Computing Commons. King Campus has nearly 100 in the Open Computing Lab and Markham has 70 networked computer workstations in the Computing Commons with another 80 workstations on the way. Students have access to some of the latest computer equipment in Canada. More than 20 per cent of Ontario computer studies students are enrolled at Seneca College.

[edit] Co-op Education

Co-operative programs give Seneca students the opportunity to integrate their college education with real world experience before graduation. Seneca offers a wide range of co-op programs in subject areas ranging from Technical Communication and Accounting and Finance, to Chemical Technology and Marketing Administration.

Some programs offer co-op options, while others include a mandatory co-op period prior to graduation. Seneca also offers work placement assistance to students upon graduation. All Seneca College programs are designed and kept current with the assistance of academic advisory committees. These committees are made up of Seneca's academic advisors and key industry members and are in place to ensure the education students receive provides the skills necessary for career success.

[edit] University Transfer Agreement Policies

Seneca College has more than 70 transfer agreements with universities throughout the world including countries such as Australia, Canada, England, South Africa, and the U.S.A. These agreements allow our students to apply their college education to obtain credit towards a university degree.

Institutions with which Seneca has transfer agreements include: University of British Columbia, University of Calgary, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, University of Guelph, University of Western Sydney in Australia and York University. These cover diverse program areas including Human Resources Management, Real Property Administration, Aviation and Flight Technology, Nursing, and Biochemistry.

Seneca College is continuously expanding its transfer and joint agreements with other post-secondary institutions to give students the most for their education and career success.

Seneca College has campuses throughout the Toronto and Greater Metro Toronto Area including a Markham Campus due to open in 2005.

[edit] Buttonville Airport

2833 16th Avenue, Markham, ON

Buttonville is the home of Seneca's fleet of aircraft and flight training devices, utilized for training by students registered in the Aviation and Flight Technology Program. All in-flight training is undertaken through the facilities at the Buttonville Airport. Classroom-based instruction is split between the Newnham, Markham, York and Buttonville Campuses.

Students on this campus are registered in pre-apprenticeship programs for Tool and Die Maker, Precision Machining and Mould Maker trades. The Digital Media Centre is part of this campus and offers programs in 3-D Digital Animation and in Webmaster specializations.

Located on 2.82 km² of woods, lakes and fields, this campus offers students a broad range of study programs, including: Business, Early Childhood Education, Law Enforcement, Nursing, Social Service Worker (and Gerontology), Tourism Studies, Environmental Landscape Management, Recreation and Leisure Services, Recreation Facility Management, and Veterinary Technician. It is also one of the few locations in Canada that offer training in the field of SCUBA and Surface Supplied Commercial Diving.

Seneca College’s Markham Campus is located at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 404 which is easily accessible by car or public transit. Situated on 12 acres of land with a beautiful pond and walking path, the 10-storey building has been completely renovated to accommodate computer laboratories, classroom facilities and study areas. When fully occupied, the Markham building will accommodate up to 2,500 students.

Seneca’s Markham campus now offers programs in Tourism and Travel, Business Computer Systems and will soon offer such programs as Brand Management, Business Intelligence Research Analyst and Interactive Marketing.

The Gordon Baker Campus has now moved to Markham Campus specializing in computer courses, from beginner to advanced training. The Richmond Hill Campus has also moved to the Markham Campus, the Faculty of Continuing Education and Contract Training offers a variety of programs, with a strong emphasis on business, ESL, and microcomputer training. A business centre and self-employment assistance program are available for the entrepreneur, as well as customized training solutions for growing companies.

Satellite learning centre was once located in a plaza in the northeast corner of Highway 7 and McCowan Road.

The Newmarket Campus offers community-based services delivered by Seneca College, the YMCA and the Canadian Hearing Society (CHS). Programs include employment services for adults, academic upgrading and computer skills training. The YMCA offers youth programs and information on recreational activities and community programs. The CHS offers numerous support services for the hearing impaired in York Region.

Newnham Campus is the academic and administrative centre of Seneca College. Located on the north side of Finch Avenue at Hwy. 404 (Don Valley Parkway) and Finch Avenue East, Newnham Campus is one of the largest college campuses in Canada. It houses full-time and part-time programs in Applied Arts, Business and Technology, as well as the Seneca Student Residence.

Seneca@York Campus includes the Stephen E. Quinlan Building and the Technology Enhanced Learning Building, situated on the Keele Campus of York University. Several schools are located at this North York campus, including the Animation Arts Centre, Communication Arts, Computer Studies and Biological Science and Applied Chemistry, as well as Corporate Communications and Technical Communication programs.

Students at the Yorkgate Campus can learn at their own pace with customized programs in academic upgrading and office systems. The Literacy and Basic Skills program is available, as are a variety of provincial and federal programs. The Employment Resource Centre offers assisted services and extended hours on evenings and Saturdays. The facility is located on the second floor of the Yorkgate Mall at Finch Avenue West and Jane Street.

Former C.B. Parsons Junior High, Seneca Yorkdale Campus was home to the Tourism Studies from 1980s until it moved to the King Campus in 2000. The site is now home to Fieldstone Day School, a private school.
