Sandy Macdonald

John Alexander Lindsay "Sandy" Macdonald (born 10 May 1954), Australian politician, has been a National Party of Australia member of the Australian Senate since July, 1993, representing the state of New South Wales. He was defeated at the 1998 federal elections and his term ended in July 1999. In May 2000 he was re-appointed to the Senate following the resignational of National Party Senator David Brownhill.
Macdonald was born in Quirindi, New South Wales and was educated at Sydney University, where he graduated in law. He was a wool and beef farmer before entering politics.
In June 2005 Macdonald was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Trade, then in January 2006, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence.
