Sam Slom

Samuel Morgan Slom (born April 13, 1942, Allentown, Pennsylvania) is a Hawaii State Senator, representing the 8th Senate district, which includes Hawaii Kai, Aina Haina, Kahala and Diamond Head. He has served in the State Senate since 1996. Slom also is the president and executive director of Small Business Hawaii.
Slom is among the most prominent members of the Hawaii Republican Party with strong contacts in the Hawaii conservative media. Consistent supporters of Slom include lawyer H. William Burgess, talk-show host Rick Hamada, activist Kenneth Conklin, and HawaiiReporter.com editor Malia Zimmerman, who is also founder of the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, a conservative research and consulting organization. Zimmerman in particular has had an extensive personal and political relationship with Slom; during divorce proceedings, Slom's ex-wife stated that Zimmerman was the senator's mistress.
