[edit] Re: Entropy and life
Hi,
I don't think I can add much to this topic, you seem to know much more than me. I don't even have an education in a related field, I'm just a computer engineer who happened to have read "What is Life?" and liked it! :-)
Anyway, thank you for expanding on the subject. 14:12, 7 November 2006 --User:Cmbreuel
- No problem, thanks again for starting it. --Sadi Carnot 14:29, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!
Hi, Sadi, thanks for your wonderful barnstar! I moved it to my User:WillowW/Scrapbook in case you were looking for it. I hope that I keep earning your respect, and wish you well in your editing. See you around in the wide world of Wikipedia! ;) Willow 21:27, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- You're welcome (although I can't believe you learned all you know about photons simply by listening to people?). Talk later: --Sadi Carnot 23:39, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Evolution image
The irony of you lecturing me on improving your image (the text is totally unnecessary and ruins the effect in my opinion, but that's not worth arguing over) and acting "without consensus" when you yourself placed it there "without consensus" would be humorous if it were not annoying. I placed the correct licenses on the image, listed the sources correctly, and even bothered to re-create the image for you so that it didn't look amateurish, and I did so even though I honestly don't think it's the best image for the job. I did so because I didn't want the encyclopedia to look like crap while people were sorting out the image issues. Surely you can see that this works in your advantage as well.
Don't upload content unless you can stand to watch it get edited mercilessly and improved upon. And don't lecture me on "consensus" when you clearly aren't trying to establish it yourself before making major changes. If you need help getting things to work right please ask someone before making changes to a major article. --Fastfission 22:51, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

- Please try to have a little respect for other people’s efforts. Of course everything is free content, but don’t go and edit people’s uploads, less than 12 hrs after they made them, without at least being courteous and discussing the change on the person’s talk page. --Sadi Carnot 05:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

- As to "consensus", I have actively proposed at least four images (as well as other possible ideas) over a seven day period; as such, Users Adam Cuerden, Roland Deschain, and User: --66.56.207.111, who likes the Darwin pic, all favor a change; Mikker suggests a collage of living creatures; User: Ec5618 thinks the Armadillo/Glyptodon is “brilliant”; GIMP doesn’t seem to have any problems with the image; and Dave souza, who immediately recognized and edited in the exact years and story behind this Darwin clue (which is supposedly one of Darwin’s two main stimulating clues [the other being the finches]), doesn’t seem to mind the change. In contrast to my efforts, I haven't seen you make one suggestion; instead you have been resistant to change for some reason? But then again, I appreciate your second modification (with the text included) efforts to the new image. I'll certainly come to you with future image questions. --Sadi Carnot 05:54, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

- Also, I've replaced the licensing info on the new one. Perhaps you don't realize it but tagging image licenses correctly is mandatory on Wikipedia and using a GDFL image requires 1. attribution and 2. relicensing the new image under the GDFL. --Fastfission 22:56, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks, you seem to know more about image licensing than I do. --Sadi Carnot 05:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
