Sütlaç

Sütlaç or Turkish rice pudding is a very popular traditional dessert. It was first prepared in royal Ottoman kitchens. The pudding consists of rice cooked in milk thickened with cornstarch or sübye (a ground rice/milk mixture) and sometimes flavored with vanilla. It can be served either hot or cold. The pudding may be browned on top in high temperature bread ovens after being boiled; this creates a distinctive skin on the pudding's surface. When served without this procedure, it is generally dressed with a pinch of cinnamon.
Rice pudding is a popular dessert throughout the Middle East.[citation needed] Sütlaç is a Turkish variant. Other Middle Eastern rice puddings include Muhallabieh, Moghlie and Riz bi Haleeb found in Arab nations and Persia.
