Rodney Howard-Browne

Rodney Howard-Browne is a South African Charismatic preacher and evangelist.

Rodney Howard-Browne was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and grew up in the Eastern Cape and Transkei. He preached in Southern Africa from 1981 to 1987. In 1987, he moved to America.

He travels under the banner of Revival Ministries International. He also pastors a church in Tampa, Florida, The River at Tampa Bay, which he founded on December 1, 1996. Weekly broadcasts of his meetings can be found at www.revival.com.

Rodney Howard Browne is the self proclaimed "Holy Ghost Bartender". Rodney claims you can get drunk in the Holy Spirit and followers have been caught on film staggering around like they are drunk on alcohol. Holy Laughter is another sign the Rodney claims to be a dispenser of. He recites scriptures taken out of the book of Acts in the Bible to support his claims:

Acts 14-21

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words.

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

July 1979: South Africa In July of 1979 there’s an eighteen year old young man in a prayer meeting crying out to God. He is hungry, desperate for God. And finally at one point he is literally shouting “God if you don’t come down here & touch me then I am coming up there to touch you!” And the power of God fell on him. He said it was as though all of a sudden somebody had taken gasoline and put a lighted match to it. The fire of God fell upon Him instantaneously, and he was immersed in the liquid fire of the Holy Spirit. He became completely inebriated in the Holy Ghost. He was beside himself. For the next three days people thought he had lost his mind. Overflowing, he laughed uncontrollably. He went from laughter to weeping to tongues, back to laughter and weeping again. Four days later, the glory of God was still upon him, and by this time he was saying, "God, lift it. I can't bear it any more...Lord; I'm too young to die, don't kill me now." And for two full weeks he was saturated in the presence of God. That boys name was Rodney Howard-Browne. And these things became the basis of his later ministry; this was not really evident until about ten years later. By 1980 he was still in his native country, he traveled in ministry with a group of people & preached & ministered. God began to move through him mightily & people all around him would become drunk & stirred in the glory of God as he ministered. Soon it became clear that he was as a Young man called to be an evangelist & to go to The United States & evangelize the nation. After coming to the U.S., he began to engage in his evangelistic work speak wherever he could, yet nothing much was happening in his ministry until 1987. In this year, he was doing a Regular meeting in upstate New York & the power of God fell & people started falling out of their pews, rolling on the floor laughing. The Power of God just manifested. God began to move powerfully through his ministry in all denominations, particularly the Pentecostal movement & AG. He became a fiery evangelist, he was known as the spiritual bar tender, he prayed for people & they were drunk in the spirit. God moved through him mightily & still is To this Day.
