Ridgemont, Oakland, California
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ridgemont is a neighborhood in Oakland, California, next to Merritt College along Campus Drive. First developed in the 1970s and 1980's, the neighborhood (one of the last undeveloped parcels in the city of Oakland at the time) added homes in 2005 as Desilva, a real estate developer, is building homes on the ridge where the Leona quarry (also known as the Alma pyrite mine) was once in use. The former quarry is visible for miles and can been seen from San Francisco.
