Also, do not insert the template {{deletedpage}} onto the article, as that would still make it count as a real page and therefore appear as a blue link. The weather in London is supposed to appear as a red link on purpose. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 18:17, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

We seem to prefer real examples rather than HTML coding. And it is now a historical non-page. It seems to now have an average lifetime of about 30 minutes. --Henrygb 22:26, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

The page Red link seems to be being used to illustrate a red link (What links there). Another example is the weather in London (talk) which also illustrates a deleted page. --Henrygb 15:03, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

I don't think we'll need to continue this discussion. I've just batch-changed all the links here (except on pages discussing this specific edit war) so that they instead link to "like this one." Unlike "red link" or "the weather in London," "like this one" is an adjective phrase with no corresponding noun phrase and no particular significance, so I don't think any good-faith editor will be tempted to start an article there. I hope people will now use [[like this one]] as an example instead of [[red link]]. When that happens, the page can become a redirect to Wikipedia:Red link and be protected, and the edit war will be over forever. (Of course, like this one will probably still see vandalism, but no good-faith edits and no argument.) _SeahenNeonMerlin 18:31, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Typing "red link" into the search currently leads you to Wikipedia:WikiProject Red Link Recovery. Redlink redirects to Help:Starting a new page. The proposal above wants to redirect Red link to Wikipedia:Red link. Is there any consensus on where red link and redlink should go, and why should it redirect outside of the main space? Certainly an article stub could be created. - BT 20:48, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
