Ray Nelson

Radell "Ray" Faraday Nelson (1931-) is a science fiction author most famous for his short story "Eight O'Clock in the Morning", which was later used by John Carpenter as the basis for his 1988 film They Live, starring Roddy Piper and Keith David.
Nelson also worked with Philip K. Dick on the 1967 novel The Ganymede Takeover and wrote several other short stories, including Turn off the sky, Nightfall on the dead sea and others.
He has professed that his greatest claim to fame is to be the inventor of the propeller beanie while still in high school.
