Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Ashbourne

Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School (QEGS) is a comprehensive school for 11-18 year olds, situated in the town of Ashbourne, Derbyshire. The current headmaster is Dr. A R Wilkes, and during his time as head, has seen major changes and improvements to both the layout of the school, and the way it is run. In the academic year 2005-2006, there were 1337 pupils on roll.
In 2002 and 2003, the QEGS 6th form were top of The Guardian and Independent A level performance tables. In December 2005, Ofsted marked the school as being "very good".

- 1585 - The school was founded as a voluntary controlled school, in Church Street, Ashbourne. The building still exists today.
- 1909 - The school relocated to its current site on The Green Road.
- 1973 - QEGS took over the Ashbourne County Secondary School on Old Derby Road, but they both remained as two separate sites.
- 2003 (February) - New building work was completed on the Green Road site, and the lower school pupils moved to this site.
- 2005 (June) - QEGS became a specialist Technology College, and a new technology block was built with the funding recieved.
