The last name Quan is related to Kwan, Kwon, Guan, Quon. Different pronunciation of the last name caused it to have different spellings when translated into English
Quan is translated from Vietnamese and China. Kwan is translated from Cantonese mostly from Hong Kong. Kwon is translated from Korean. Guan is translated from Mandarin mostly from China, Taiwan, and Singapore.
The last name arrived from the Chinese character "gates" The Quan ancestors were gate keepers in ancient China or military officials. There are also other evidence insicating that the quan ancestors were nobles, genties, and politician in ancient China.
Quan is also a verb, to quan or be quanned. Hard to determine as it's rarely used in modern English, however, one is said to have been quan'd if you have unintentionally become involved in a conversation that you have no control over.
