Proty

Proty is a comic book character in the DC Comics universe, who has the ability to shapeshift. When not using that ability, he is a simple lump of protoplasm, hence his name. He was the pet of Chameleon Boy, a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes who also has the ability to shapeshift.
Proty sacrificed his life to bring Lightning Lad back to life, and was replaced by Proty II. Proty II subsequently joined the Legion of Super-Pets.
In Adventure Comics #334 it was revealed that Proty's species had been given the ability to adapt to any situation by a race called the Llorn.
In post Zero Hour Legion continuity, Proty was the pet of Lori Morning.
