Press Start to Play is a British webcomic, written and drawn by Adam Law and Darryl Walker. The title Press Start To Play is a reference to Arcade games as well as early video games, where the instruction was often displayed upon the title screen. It premiered on November 19, 2005 with the URL of "pressstarttoplay.lyfeforce.net" (which is why the earlier comics and wallpapers have it as its URL), and was originally updated three times a week, but has since limited itself to twice a week updates due to time constraints. The central characters are caricatures of the creators themselves, who are accompanied by Darryl's sadistic talking parrot, Simon.
The setting and humour are heavily inspired by the webcomics Penny Arcade and VG Cats [1] as well as Law and Walker's own real-world experiences [2]. Many of the comics play on or parody the odd nature of popular video games, mocking their storylines or unrealistic elements, whilst others involve the misadventures of the comic's main characters. The comic often uses surreal concepts or puns to create humour. A running gag sometimes used as filler involves the Colonel from Metal Gear Solid screaming the infamous line "Snake? Snake! SNAKE!" to a freaked out Solid Snake. The comic uses very little continuity, instead usually relying upon single-comic gags.
The comic gained much of its popularity when Scott Ramsoomair of VGCats advertised the comic on the front page of his site. He later chose it as a featured webcomic.
Production has slowed recently owing to both Law and Walker getting full-time jobs, though they maintain that the comic will continue to be published. [3]

The slightly more sane of the two main characters, he is based off his real life counterpart. He often plays the spectator or victim to Darryl's stunts. He and Simon are mortal enemies, and he currently works at a GAME store. He is married to Tess, and is often tormented by Darryl or Simon.

The crazy to counter Adams normality, he loves acting like a madman. From setting fire to a KFC restaurant, to dreaming about female game characters having a catfight over him, he prefers his own world to real life. He owns the parrot Simon. He is also known to have a running hatred of Donkey Kong.

Simon is a parrot, and became Adam's arch-foe on first sight. He is the meanest of the main characters; his favorite pastime is logging into his Xbox Live account to trick n00bs with poorly thought-up lies, but spends just as much time, if not more, causing trouble for Adam. At first all he could say was 'evidently', but has since started speaking full English. A chance encounter led to him holding a deep disdain for the O RLY Owl [4].

Adam's wife that he married in Vegas (comics 51 and 52). She looks almost the same as him [5]. She has appeared in more comics than Chenee, and her relationship with Adam is a typical love-hate relationship [6] [7].

Darryl's wife, who he married in Vegas as well (comics 51 and 52). In reality, Darryl and Chenee have a mock marriage which apparently took place on the Sonic Spin forums. A recent strip was dedicated in her memory after the real-life Chenee died of cancer on July 29th. [8]
[edit] Cornellious
While not exactly a main character, Cornellious has appeared in several strips, with his face on cereal boxes, posters, and most recently, a movie advertisement. Cornellious actually originated on the forums, and grew to quite popular with the fans of the comic. His first proper role is in comic number 60.[9]
