Premendra Mitra

Premendra Mitra (Bengali: প্রেমেন্দ্র মিত্র) (1904-1988) is a renowned Bengali poet, novelist, later, a thriller and science fiction writer. He was born in Varanasi, India.

Premendra Mitra's father was an employee of railway service. He went to many places. Was a student of South Suburban School and College. Wanted to be a doctor and studied science. Was a school teacher and tried to be a business man, but literature attracted more.

He was an editor of 'Kollol', 'Kali Kalam', 'Banglar Kotha', 'Bongobani', 'Songbad' etc.

First creation was published in 'Probasi' in 1922. His poems contained sharpness and short stories contained planning. His literary works were included in the curriculum of school level, secondary, higher secondary and graduation level Bengali Literature in Bangladesh. He also created a series of books for children and teenagers revolving around the central character, Ghanada.
