[edit] Ah, another Norwegian

Hi, I took the liberty of adding you to the list of Norwegian wikipedians — with you we are now at 30 contributors (trying hard to beat the Swedes...) :-) --Wernher 00:00, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Sure, absolutely :-) BTW, where did you spot my nick? Pladask 02:26, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Hmm, must've been the Abel article, IIRC. --Wernher 21:50, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Football culture

Hi

Saw your post on the discussion for Football (soccer). I have now started a Football culture page. Feel free to have a read and add anything you want.

[edit] Dashes

So... what's with the dashes? Why do some - become and some ? --Ben Brockert 00:07, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

"–" (–) should be used for ranges such as measurements ("five–six meters") and periods in time ("1984–2003"), whereas "—" (—) make breaks in the text ("the old man was — despite his age — still healthy"). — Pladask 10:51, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Ok. I should have looked before asking you; Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dashes) specifically discourages single spaced hyphens. As such, thanks for doing what you're doing, and keep up the good work. --Ben Brockert 23:25, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Grieg

Hi Pladask! Funny, I was just about to make that same fix to Grieg, and you already did it! Great minds think alike, LOL. Also I added Grieg to the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Composers since the article is really short. Happy editing! Antandrus 16:14, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, it's embarrassingly short! I'm travelling next week, but after that I'm planning to grab a pile of biographies and do some serious expanding. :-) BTW, it's funny that the article on his great piano concerto is actually longer than the article on its composer. — Pladask 16:22, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
That would be great; I'd love to see the article grow. Have a happy week of traveling! Antandrus 16:29, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pianists

Hi! I shall add the category 'Classical pianists' to all of the articles I've edited :) You agree on replacing e.g. 'Russian musicians' with 'Russian pianists' though, right? --Missmarple 07:47, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Yes, absolutely! :-) I'll join in on the work you're doing. Keep it up. — Pladask 21:23, Mar 20, 2005 (UTC)

Hey, it's me again. I was looking through the Pekinel sisters article and I noticed that all the countries they've had concerts in are linked. That's quite a lot of links which are not completely relevant to the article. I mean, when I click on 'What links here' on the, for example, Italy page, I'm probably not looking for the Pekinel sisters, right? What's your opinion on that? --Missmarple 07:37, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

If everyone were to think like that before adding a link, I don't think there would be a lot of them left. The more, the better (usually, and to a certain degree), IMO. It's the myriad of links that ties Wikipedia together and is the beauty of it. :-) — Pladask 13:46, May 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bourree

You moved Bourée and Bourrée to Bourree in late July. FYI unfortunately, Bourrée was the correct spelling according to the Webster and Britannica Online, not to mention the original French spelling. Since I'm not an admin here, I don't want to create a double REDIRECT, so maybe you can manage to ask one of your local admin to undo it :) Cheers from a former piano teacher (1982-1992 RIP) ! villy 18:22, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Actually, I didn't move it, I started it. ;-) Anyway, I'll ask an admin to do it. – Pladask 09:53, Apr 21, 2005 (UTC)
Fine, thx :) villy 15:11, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Compositions by

I created the new sub-categories of Category:Compositions by composer that you requested and moved all the articles. The old categories have been nominated at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion#Compositions by for deletion. Gdr 23:02, 2005 May 17 (UTC)

Fantastic! Thanks! I had lost hope for this to be done automatically. You made my day! :-D — Pladask 13:36, May 18, 2005 (UTC)

In future, you can nominate category renamings like this at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion (it also handles renaming). Gdr 15:28, 2005 May 18 (UTC)

[edit] Cat speedy

"Category:Mozart symphonies - The contents have been moved to Category:Symphonies by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to match the naming scheme." - there was some talk on CSD whether this should be a speedy deletion criterion. Since a proposal for expanding speedy criteria is likely going to happen soon, I'd like to have your feedback on wording one for cases such as this. Yours, Radiant_>|< 07:38, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

Hmm. How about something like "Renaming according to agreed naming scheme."? — Pladask 12:26, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Horowitz

Hi Pladask! Thanks for the note. Unfortunately I don't have a full biography of Horowitz, and I haven't read one either. I was using the online Grove article ([1], but it requires a subscription) which is fairly detailed; in addition to the birthplace issue, it explains the birthdate issue, which is already handled correctly in the Wiki article. Happy editing! Antandrus (talk) 16:53, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Beethoven and Liszt

Hi Pladask, so you know, I have moved the article on Beethoven and Liszt ou had originally moved to an even more generic article on Beethoven and his contemporaries. Dottore So 17:30, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

You know, I didn't get around to thanking you for voting for me on my RfA.

Let me correct that.

Thanks. DS 00:10, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

No problem. Congrats on your adminship. :-) — Pladask 22:47, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Categorising classical pianists

Hello, Pladask! Since I remember you edited quite a few articles on classical pianists (even before I came here :)) I would like you to look at this: Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 February 11. I do think the 'Classical pianists' category works just perfect right now and would like to keep it as it is. Vote (or not :P)! --Missmarple 10:53, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help me!

I wanted to create a template for material released into the public domain in Norway using the Sweden template as a model. Can you do a little research and tell me what the rules are, or find someone that can? Template:PD-Sweden Template:PD-Norway --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 05:42, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Evgeny Kissin's picture

Evgeny Kissin

Hello,

I am from the french-speaking WikiPedia (and I can't speak english very well, sorry). I saw your photo in the Evgeny Kissin article, and I take it and put it in the french-speaking WikiPedia. But over there, someone ask me for the tag (copyright, copyleft, etc.). I answer him that I took it in the english-speaking WikiPedia, I took the tag you put (promophoto), and put it in the picture.

There is an URL in your tag where it is said :

Photos may not be used for advertising or other purposes without the written permission of the SFS

So, have you it ? Have you the written permission of the SFS So to take this photo ?

Thank you, bye.

Hello. This image has a source ([2]), but it isn't working, so I can't verify it. Do you have an additional source? / Fred-Chess 10:23, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
