Petros Papadakis

Petros Papadakis (born June 16, 1977) was a radio host on KMPC-AM, ("1540 The Ticket") in Los Angeles until recently resigning to concentrate on his television career. Known for his brash and sometimes obnoxious behavior, Papadakis is a controversial but popular media figure in Southern California. His three hour show covered primarily sports but also touched on many aspects of pop culture. Petros, his father John and his brother Taso all played football at the University of Southern California. In 2000 Petros was the captain of the only last place team in USC football history. Ever since, he has always encouraged teammates, fans and broadcast listeners to refer to him as Petros Papa-jackass; a play on his Greek name, and an irreverent (but ironically accurate) piece of self-mockery.

Petros scored 16 total touchdowns while at USC. Petros was voted USC's team captain in 1999 and 2000. Petros suffered a severely broken foot in August of 1999 and missed the entire season. After months of rehabilitation he returned to score eight touchdowns in 2000. Petros was voted "Most Inspirational Player" by his USC teammates after the 2000 season.

Since the 2004 season, Papadakis, alongside Barry Tompkins has broadcasted Pacific Ten Conference college football games on FSN. Petros is also a weekly contributor on several FSN programs including the Best Damn Sports Show Period.

Petros has been featured on television shows on VH-1, the Game Show Network, ESPN and E-Network. In 2005 he guest starred on the CBS hit series CSI-New York.

The Petros Papadakis Show incorporated several characters; including "The Chicken," "The Gallo," "The Kool-Aid Man," and "The Angry Seahawk." Petros also includes music in his humor, most notably using Crime Mob's "Stilettos Pump" song to geek the audience. Petros is not afraid to rant in Spanish for minutes at a time on his radio show. He wrote most of the text you are reading now.

Petros' alter-ego "Lance Romance," gives dating and love advice to listeners every Thursday at 5:00 PM. Considered the "Suavesito of Love," Petros geeks the "Lance Romance" segment as "Latino Love Line," as Thursday's show is called Jueves (Thursday) Gigante, a play off of the Univision Spanish language show Sabado (Saturday) Gigante starring Don Francisco.

The Petros Papadakis show has a different name for every day of the week. They are: "Good Bye Blue Monday," "Tired of the Lies Tuesday," "Up with Hope, Down with Dope Wednesday," "Jueves (Thursday) Gigante," and "I'm a Fraud Friday." Petros' father "John the Don" cussed several times during his regular Friday segments.

After the pop culture report, Petros used to close out the broadcast by spending several minutes with Fred Roggin, whose talk show follows Papadakis'. Petros no longer speaks with Roggin (on or off the radio).

In March 2006 Petros debuted as the host of Pros vs Joes on Spike TV. He began shooting season two of Pros vs Joes in October 2006.

Petros is obsessed with the Houston, Texas "chopped and screwed" style of hip-hop.

Papadakis is also a fan of the Fox TV show "Family Guy," often referencing past episodes on his show.

As of 10/10/06, Petros resigned his position with 1540 the Ticket, citing that his vision for the show and the station were moving in opposite directions.
