Peterpan (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peterpan is an Indonesian pop rock band from Antapani, Bandung, famous through the following songs: "Mimpi yang Sempurna", "Ada Apa Denganmu", "Topeng", and "Kukatakan Dengan Indah".

The story of the band was originally started at 1997 when Andika Naliputra Wirahardja (nicked Andika) formed a band called Topi together with Uki (nick name for Mohammad Kautsar Hikmat) his junior at Bandung 2 high school who plays guitar. Uki then asked Ariel (Nazril Irham) to join in as their vocalist and Andika asked his friend Abel (bassist) and Ari (drummer).

Topi held amateur giggs mainly played Brit Alternative musics untill finally Ari redrawn from the Band which started the end of the band.

Andika started to regroup Topi former members on 2000. The drummer position was replaced by Reza (Ilsyah Ryan Reza), a college student from Palu. Loekman (Loekman Hakim), Indra's elder brother's friend, also joined them as their lead guitarist, which adds a sense of matureness and enrich the melody in their songs to complete the band.

Andika then suggested Peter-band as the name for this band, peter refer to a dreamer who wants to fly, a Disney cartoon character name which according to Andika comes in front of other character names such as Mickey Mouse, Spiderman, X-Men etc. After the name was chosen, Peterpan was formally founded on September 1st 2000.
