In depth
Paul hails from Middlesbrough in the North East of the UK. He moved to Sheffield to go to University in 1990, and has been in South Yorkshire since. Studying for a B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry and then a Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry. After leaving University, Paul's first job was "shovelling a ton of chrome metal" at a local company. He then went on to work at Alcontrol Laboratories (then a subsidiary of Yorkshire Water). Whilst there the company decided to pull itself apart.
Paul left Alcontrol while the going was good and took up a research post at the University of Sheffield. Working in both the Chemistry department and the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, publishing several journal articles. During this time Paul worked in the fields of both organic and inorganic analysis, particularly PCDD/F and heavy metals.
At present Paul is working in customer service...which admittedly is a bit of a depature from the academic world. During this time Paul has gained invaluable experience in communication and developing people skills which is essential in the development of Paul's business interests...
Throughout this time Paul was gaining a interest in design and publishing. Since 2000, Paul has worked on the Rotherham New Life Christian Centre magazine, UpFront, taking on the production responsibilities in 2002. The experience gained with UpFront, led to the formation of The North Star Company in July 2003.
Paul is married to Rachel and they have two children, Leigh and Joshua, and live in Rotherham. They are members of Rotherham New Life Christian Centre.
