Pasdaran (Road)

Pasdaran is a neighborhood of Tehran centered aroun the Pasdaran Ave. This avenue is a road that connects Niavaran road (from the north) to Shariati road (from south). It is situated in northern Tehran - Iran. It is about 8-9 km long.
Pasdaran in Persian means "gaurdians". The old name for this road was "Saltanat Abad", which means "built by the monarchy", and refers to the palace of the Shah (the last king of Iran), situated at the northernmost tip of this street.
Pasdaran Ave. leads from a central part of the city to the more northerly areas, culminating in the old palace. This avenue, along with the network of streets that extend out from it, make up the Pasdaran Neighborhood of Tehran, which included areas like Darrus ,Rostam Abad ,Saltanat abad ,Ekhtiyariyeh, Ehteshamiyeh and Chizar, which have varied status of class,accordingly.
