Oxgangs

Oxgangs is a suburb located in the south-west of Edinburgh, Scotland. Surrounding districts include Redford, Fairmilehead and Bonaly. It lies within the geographical county of Midlothian. The United Kingdom's Postal Code/Zip Code for Oxgangs begins with the prefix EH13 followed by a number then two letters eg EH13 9XX & the telephone std/area code is 0131 for Edinburgh.
The area consists of large housing estates with a mixture of middle and working class housing, ranging from private bungalows to Edinburgh City Council owned high rise tower blocks. The area has a small shopping centre. Located in and around Oxgangs and adjacent areas are; a Police Station, Doctors Surgery, a Pharmacy, Library, a nursery, Primary Schools and High Schools.
Neighbouring Colinton has a superstore sized Supermarket which is within a short walking distance from Oxgangs. To the south lies a Ski Centre/Center located on Edinburgh's Pentland Hills in neighbouring Hillend. Midlothian Snowsports Centre (Formely Hillend Ski Centre), features a large dry ski slope that is open for public access all year round.
