Orkdal is a municipality in the county of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway. A large part of the population is concentrated in Orkanger/Fannrem, which is situated at the head of the Orkdalsfjord, a branch of the large Trondheimsfjord. The Orkla, one of the better salmon rivers in Norway, meets the sea at Orkanger. Agriculture plays a significant role in the municipality.
