Opera window

A feature of American automobiles in the 1970s were small porthole sized windows in the rear quarter pillars of a 2 door coupe, often in conjunction with a vinyl roof.
These were usually non-functional, or actually impeded the rear view of a driver. However, in the case of the AMC Matador coupe NASCAR racers, the small windows in the Barcelona trim package actually helped to clean up the aerodynamics when such windows were open to the wind.
