Norman Foster (Australian politician)

Norman Foster (born c1921) is a former South Australian federal and state Australian Labor Party politician. He held the Federal Seat of Sturt from 1969 to 1972, and was later elected to the South Australian Legislative Council in 1975.
He is probably best known for his support of the Tonkin Liberal government's legislation to enable the Roxby Downs uranium mine in 1982. The legislation was very controversial, and was opposed at the time by Labor. Foster crossed the floor to give the final vote required to pass the legislation, earning himself automatic expulsion from the Labor Party.
