New York State Route 77 is a state highway in the western part of New York, USA. The highway runs between its southern terminus at Java Center in Wyoming County and its northern terminus near the City of Lockport in Niagara County in a general north-south direction.
The highway's best-traveled section is in northwestern Genesee County, home to Six Flags Darien Lake, Western New York's largest and most popular amusement park. On busy summer weekends it carries most visitors to and from the New York State Thruway at Exit 48A.

77 is signed as a north-south route for its entire length; however the northern third, in Niagara County, runs more east-west.
[edit] North-south segment
Route 77 begins in Java Center, at a somewhat complicated four-way intersection with NY 78 and NY 98. 77 continues due north on the path 98 follows into the intersection from the south.
The highway gradually descends through the open fields of Wyoming County, past US 20A and NY 354, into some swampy areas and then Genesee County. After crossing US 20 at the hamlet of Darien, the amusement park rises to the east. The road, however, remains a two-lane blacktop as it continues north past the village of Corfu, where it intersects NY 33 and, several miles further on, Brick House Corners, the intersection with NY 5.
Just beyond that junction the truck stops and toll plaza associated with the Thruway exit are visible as the road dips slightly, then makes its first major bend to cross over the Thruway. Past the Thruway, it once again continues ahead due north to where it crosses the Tonawanda Creek north of the hamlet of Indian Falls. The falls themselves are visible from the road and are quite picturesque when the creek is high.
North of the falls, the land once again becomes mostly fields, although some are dmarked with signage for the nearby Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. At the small hamlet of Basom, NY 63 comes in from the east, starting the only multiplex along 77.
This ends at Alabama, several miles further north, where 77 turns to the west as 63 takes over the northbound route.

As it heads into Niagara County, 77 continues to trend ever so slightly northward until it ends at NY 31 east of Lockport, near the community of Nottingham Estates.
