[edit] Route description
NY 35 begins in the city of Peekskill at the point where US 6 and US 202 leave US 9 (the Briarcliff-Peekskill Parkway). 35 travels east on Main Street (which also begins at that interchange), multiplexed with both 6 and 202. 202 and 35 turn onto Division Street soon after, while 6 remains on Main Street. 35 and 202 remain on Crompond Road as they cross into the town of Cortlandt. (Note that Crompond Road did not always exist in Peekskill; the western part was built later and the eastern part is just Division Street renamed.)
Then things get confusing at the intersection with the Bear Mountain State Parkway, which was never finished. 202 and 35 travel on roadway called Crompond Road and Old Crompond Road. Various parts were set aside for the Bear Mountain Parkway, but it was never built. All roads cross into the town of Yorktown. The eastern segment of the Bear Mountain Parkway marks the end of this confusion.
There is an interchange with the Taconic State Parkway which was rebuilt in the past five years as part of the widening project. Next is an intersection with New York State Route 132 (formerly Crompond Street), at its southern terminus.
Intersections:
- Hallocks Mill Road
- New York State Route 132A (Baldwin Road)
- Baldwin Road
- French Hill Road
In downtown Yorktown, Crompond Road leaves/ends, and New York State Route 118 joins the 202/35 multiplex, now called Saw Mill River Road.
Shortly after Saw Mill River Road crosses into the town of Somers, Route 35 finally gets its own road, Amawalk Road, as 202 and 118 depart on Tomahawk Street. There is an ordinary intersection with New York State Route 100, and the road name changes to Woods Bridge Road. The highway crosses into the town of Lewisboro very briefly and then into the town of Bedford. New York State Route 117 (which begins/ends here) takes Woods Bridge Road, and 35 starts Cross River Road. There is an interchange here with Interstate 684 and the Saw Mill River Parkway. Shortly thereafter is an ordinary intersection with New York State Route 22.
35 re-enters Lewisboro and has a short multiplex with New York State Route 121. There are also intersections with New York State Route 124 and New York State Route 123.
At the New York/Connecticut state line (Westchester/Fairfield counties), New York State Route 35 continues into Connecticut as Route 35, which connects with U.S. Route 7.
The entire road is located within Westchester County.
