Natya Shastra

Natya Shastra is a Sanskrit term which can be loosely translated as the sacred science of dance. The word natya refers to dance and the word shastra in this context has the meaning sacred science.
In modern times, a body of literature found in places in tamilnad have been collected and preserved. It is believed that this work was composed by an author by the name Bharata Muni. However, many authors have been using the term Natya Shastra to always refer to this literature. For more details about this work see Natya Shastra of Bharata.
