Hey Moulder, I checked the referenced link to the world record number of pressups on the press-up page, and I believe I corrected it to the number the reference actually lists. Thanks for the feedback. I try not to speak too much blardystrayianmate when in polite company, or when recording spoken articles. I just sit in front of the mic, and pretend I'm the Australian version of David Attenborough narrating a documentary film. Bet you couldn't pick the difference, except for the accent, eh? :)

Your recording of Renaissance is spoken clearly and accurately, and is very easy to listen to. If you're worried about "sounding" nervous, don't be. Most of us have the same doubts the first time round. The more you do this, the easier it gets. -- Macropode 09:27, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree with Macropode. Your Renaissance narration was very good for a first recording. I've posted some detailled thoughts on the file's Talk page--but please take them with a grain of salt as one listener's opinion, rather than written-in-stone dictates. There is a lot of room on Spoken Wikipedia for many different voices and their accompanying styles. It adds to the project richness. I simply meant that I've never noticed a widespread impression of the pin/pen merger as a southernism but I don't hear people outside of linguistic circles even talking about it.

I would not be surprised if its appearance in California is related to southerners traveling west during the dust bowl or whenever, but it could just as easily be coincidence. AEuSoes1 03:09, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't understand why you changed s to z in evidence for evolution. Policy says to leave spellings as they are, in general (either BE or AE) - the spelling policy isn't about bias, it's about harmony. I'm not sure why you would choose to edit war against policy. Did you read the talk page? The anon who was involved in the edit war (I was not the anon, for the record) left a message regarding that issue. There were 8 cases of fossilize and 2 of fossilise, and as the z-spelling is accepted (if not preferred) in BE, I changed those 2 for the sake of consistency. Moulder 02:12, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

On Homosexual agenda, you used a Javascript tool to revert. This tool is intended only for obvious cases of vandalism, not for content disputes. By using this tool, you falsely advertised that the previous version was vandalized, and you failed to list a genuine reason for your revert. This is not good. Please do not abuse the tool further. It takes a lot for a content dispute to qualify as vandalism. In particular, it has to be clear that the intent of the editor is to harm the article, not merely to settle a content dispute in their favor. This distinction becomes rather important if you violate WP:3RR and try to defend yourself by saying you were only reverting vandalism. Al 00:51, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Why was Aletrishe Nietra's grandaughter Sillian Eckers removed from the list of deathblinds? She was an actual deafblind whom garnered fame from Aletrishe's writing. I understand you're fairly new to Wikipedia, but please donot go removing stuff from articles without knowledge about them. I realised moments ago I had included Aletrishe to the list by mistake, Sorry for that. I didn't do it because I'm new, I did it because you had added allegations that Hellen Keller was a lesbian, which is nonsense. After that, I checked your edit and was unable to find any of the names you had added to Deafblindness on Google, so I assumed it was intended as vandalism. Yes, I realized that later. It's difficult to distinguish these things at times, which is the vandals' intention some times. It's also likely multiple users were on computers from that IP and viewing the page about their town out of curiosity; the same IP that had made the numerous edits prior to my reversion (here is the specific edit that prompted my attention) proceeded to make this edit, despite its prior undoing of vandalism. Yep, I'm going through all the recently added articles as I update the RSS feed. My feeling about GFDL-self is that the tag is misleading for spoken articles. The tag implies that you are the original creator of the content and you could have released it under any license. This is not the case for spoken articles because, being derivative GFDL works, they must be released under the GFDL license. -SCEhardT 09:03, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Always happy to help, but to be honest, it probably looked like I spent a lot more time on the article than I really did. I was cheating with SpellBound, a spell checker extension for Firefox that underlines typos in red just as if you were using Word. You should check it out - http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/ :) It's not the smartest in the world though (sometimes plurals or words that are just uncommon or even acronyms like DVD get marked as typos). Hi, please leave the EU in its own section on the superpower page. We had a very long discussion and finally reached the agreement that the EU should have its own section. There are three reasons why:

• The EU is not a country like China or India but is a unique union of states.
• There are authoritive sources stating that the EU is already a superpower.
• The EU does not lack economic development like the two other superpowers but rather lacks political unification.

Please understand that it took a long time and much, much debate to reach the current compromise and that it is consider fair, just and true by all parties included in the perceeding discussion and the following agreement. I doubt I can really explain the New York political system, but the primaries select the person who will be the official candidate of each party, listed on that party's line during the final November election. The weird thing about NY is that there are several minor parties, such as the Conservatives and also the Liberal and Working Families parties that don't really field their own candidates, but just endorse one of the major party candidates. A not-uncommon thing to see in November is one candidate listed many times under most of the different parties. Brown ran in the Democratic primary (against Kevin Gaughan), and simultaneously in the Conservative and other primaries.

Apparently, although Helfer was the official Republican candidate, it was more significant that he beat Brown in the Conservative primary, because it was believed that, in the November election, virtually no Democrats would vote for a Republican, but they would consider voting for a Conservative (according a Buffalo News analysis). --Davepape 03:02, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the feedback; I responded on that page (it's kinda hard to follow the page as far as watchlisting it) with a game plan of sorts for my vision of the template-to-be. I'm not sure what TTW (The TWilight Zone?) stands for in the templates I mentioned, but I suppose the new one can use those initials for consistency. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to unify the seven templates. One template to rule replace them all, and in the twilight? bind them. Moulder 17:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Right, first draft is up at Time Enough at Last, template itself is {{Infobox The Twilight Zone episode}}. It seemed to me like the South Park system was closest to what we wanted, so I basically just stole it and replaced everywhere it said "South Park" with "The Twilight Zone", which seemed to work with surprisingly little hassle! I kept the South Park naming conventions as well, assuming they'd be more standard.

Regarding the amount of detail to include and length of the box, luckly it's very easy to control. It works by parameters yeah, for writer, producer, production code, etc. But the great thing is that it checks to see if each parameter is listed before including it: so if you don't give a production code, for example, it won't display that line and the box will be shorter!

The other thing I should mention is that the episode list part of the infobox actually transcludes a set of other templates, one per season. I've made the season 1 one at {{Infobox The Twilight Zone season 1 episode list}}; figured I see if you where happy with the format (it includes everything from the middle gray box and below) before copying it for all the other seasons. The season 2 page does exist, if you'd like to test that feature, but still has South Park info.

Wow - I almost feel like a dummy for not realizing how un-complicated that problem was to solve! Your solution is perfect. What if we kept the existing templates, e.g. Template:Infobox TTW season two, and just modified them accordingly? Either way something will have to be deleted template-wise. I don't need to check the other seasons - I love what you've done. Thanks!

BTW the one downside to the RFF process is it further complicates the age-old "which talk page do I respond on?" question. Maybe there should be some guidelines about that. ;) Moulder 23:26, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Heh, don't worry about it, I find simple solutions to complex problems for a living ;-) Just to be clear, I haven't made any of the other 4 season specific templates, so your have to copy the code from season 1 over, and then replace the info from the other seasons. You know, this has nothing to do with my RFF or the template, but I'm starting to think this might actually work as an FA candidate if I got my hands on one of those books mentioned in the ref section. I was originally just going for a quality article, since I like to think that's possible without an ultimate goal of WP:FAC, but this might be worth going all the way. [edit] Re: Opera text-to-speech

Hi, I hadn't actually tried it out when I added the information, but I just thought that it should be there since the only other software mentioned was trialware, and one way or another opera can read out things for free without any 30 day trial business. After your message I actually tried it out (on version 9) and I see what you mean about the small pause before each linked word. One way around that would be to copy the text of the article, paste it and save it in a text file, then dump that .txt back into opera and select/speak. Looking at the problem I would guess that there should be an easier solution, either involving the "style" selected in opera to delink links, or the monobook css/js file in each users WP account - but nothing easy and obvious jumps out of the page at me. I shall have a play about and see if there is anyway of getting the voice to either ignore links, or turn the links into text. SFC9394 16:56, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
