Moshe Leib Rabinovich

Grand Rabbi Moshe Leib Rabinovich (born December 25, 1941 in Munkacs) is the current rebbe of Munkacs. His father, Rabbi Baruch Yehoshua Yerachmiel Rabinovich served as Chief Rabbi of Munkacs following the death of his father-in-law Chief Rabbi Chaim Elazar Spira in 1937 until the Nazi’s occupied Munkacs in 1944.
During World War Two, Rabbi Baruch succeeded in escaping the clutches of the Nazi death machine and fled with his entire family to the land of Israel (then Palestine). Rabbi Moshe Leib studied in Israel and later in America at the famous Rabbinical Academy of Telz in Cleveland, Ohio.
Rabbi Moshe Leib married in 1960 was immediately appointed as leader and Chief Rabbi of the international Munkacs Community. He immediately began to rebuild on the ashes of Hitler’s Holocaust the famous schools and synagogues of Munkacs. He succeeded in establishing Religious and Educational bases in the United States, Canada, Israel, London and Australia. It is to Rabbi Moshe Leib’s credit that the name “Munkacs” is a household name in the Jewish world today.
Rabbi Moshe Leib is world reknown as a scholar and sage and is respected across all spectrums of the jewish and non jewish world. His home frequently hosts government and elected officials who seek his sage advice, support, and blessings.
Rabbi Moshe Leib frequently visits his home town in Munkacs to strengthen the Jewish community there and rebuild at least a little bit on Munkacs’s pre war grandeur and splendor.
Rabbi Moshe Leib has authored numerous books on Torah and Halacha (Jewish Law), among them Sharei Orah and Olas Shabbos.
He resides in Brooklyn, New York which is home to thousands of Jews of Munkacs descent and which is the international headquarters of worldwide Munkacs Jewry.
