Moezilla
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- This article is about the artistic personification of the Mozilla applications. For the Mozilla software project, see Mozilla.
Moezilla refers to a family of personification characters of several Internet-related applications, which mostly relates to Mozilla. In Japanese, the word "Moe" is used to refer to cute girls.
Moezilla are similar to OS-tans, but they do not originate from the Futaba Channel.

[edit] Moezilla-gumi
Moezilla-gumi (もえじら組 moejira-gumi?) is a Japanese project that was founded with the aim of personifying Mozilla related applications. Doujin debut was made at the 69th Comic Market in Japan in 2005. The project name is a play on Mozilla-gumi (もじら組 mojira-gumi?), which is the official Japanese Mozilla community. The doujin title "Don't touch the red panda!" was a play on a book about Firefox titled "Don't Click on the Blue E!"
[edit] Firefox-ko
Firefox-tan is a personification of the browser Mozilla Firefox, who is usually portrayed as a Japanese fox spirit in Shinto priestess attire by most fan-artists, although the official Mozilla Brand FAQ [1] notes that "Firefox" is also known as the common name for the red panda. Her color set and design resemble that of the Firefox logo.
A character named Hana from an Ukagaka type desktop mascot program is often mistaken for Firefox-tan when pictures appear on English-language imageboard sites, but she is not associated with the OS-tans. Hana is usually distinguishable by her preferred outfit, a navy-blue sailor fuku.
[edit] Thunderbird-tan
Thunderbird-tan is a personification of the mail and news client Mozilla Thunderbird. She is the best friend of Firefox-tan. She dresses like a telephone operator, carries a keyboard/monitor, and sometimes holds a letter in her hands. Similar to Firefox-tan, her color set and design resemble that of the Thunderbird logo.
[edit] Øpera-tan
Øpera-tan is a personification of the Opera web browser. This character was created in response to Lawrence Eng's recommendation on Opera branding [2] [3] [4]. As per Lawrence's suggestion, she is an elegant but approachable lady wearing opera gloves. Other characteristics include long silvery gray hair, and a purple hat with a big red letter Ø.
With the release of Opera 8, a superman-like figure was displayed in the Opera homepage. Hence a new (and tiny) character known as "OperaMan" was created [5] [6].
[edit] SeaMonkey-ko
SeaMonkey-ko is the personification of SeaMonkey.
[edit] Nvu onee-san
Nvu onee-san is the personification of Nvu. The "onee-san" part of her name means "big sister."
