Mitesh Patel

Mitesh Kishorbhai Patel (born May 9, 1976 in Gujarat, India) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed The Black Sticks, in 1998. Patel is a key element in The Kiwi's attacking midfield. He returned to the team for the European Tour in July 2005, after taking a break during the 2004 Summer Olympics. The resident of London is described as possing good pace and plenty of experience, having played in over one hundred matches for New Zealand. Patel is typically placed in a midfield combination with Ryan Archibald and Darren Smith. He is nicknamed "Meat Dish" or "Petal".
