The Mirror of Aachan is an object of magic in Ian Irvine's The View from the Mirror quartet. It is a twisted, deceitful thing that never forgets a single thing it is witness to. It is sometimes referred to as "The Glass" , "The Twisted Mirror" ot "The Mirror" by the characters.
The Mirror of Aachan was given to Tensor as a simple looking device by his mentor when he was a young craftsman on Aachan. He was quite fond of it and when he decided to venutre to Santhenar, with the second host of Aachim, he smuggled it through the gate with him. It was forbidden to bring objects between the worlds, as they can become twisted and warped, as the Mirror eventually did.
The leader of the Aachim at that time was Kwinlis and he decided to take charge of the Mirror, to keep it out of dangerous hands, as it was clear it had changed. When Kwinlis died the Mirror lay forgotten in Tar Gaarn and when the city was sacked, Yalkara, ventured in and stole it. She was pursued but eventually escaped her would be captores.
Yalkara changed the Mirror and bent it to her will. She built her fortress of Havissard above the ruins of Tar Gaarn. Many years later, Yalkara did battle with Faelamor there and unwittingly gave away a dangerous secret. Yalkara feared what Faelamor would do and immediately locked the Mirror with symbols around its edge. She then found within it the secret to finding a warp in the Forbidding and fled Santhenar, leaving the Mirror behind.
