He first appeared in "I Was a Teenage Gary," where he told SpongeBob that in order to cure Gary, he must inject him with Snail Plasma. He later appeared in "Suds," where he assigned treatment to SpongeBob and Patrick, when they had the "suds." In "Squid's Day Off," he helped get Mr. Krabs' arms back on him after they fell off. In "The Bully," he told Flatts the flounder that he was in the hospital and that SpongeBob had performed CPR on him for five hours straight. In "No Weenies Allowed," he recommended that SpongeBob go to the Wennie Hut Genral Hospital, rather than the hospital he was in. He doesn't like to be touched by those who have food poisoning, such that Mr. Krabs had in "Born Again Krabs." He peformed 24-surgery on SpongeBob's gluteus maximus by repairing it with staples and glue. He took a "small" splinter out of Gary's foot thereby curing Grouchy Snailitis. He is voiced by Carlos Alazraqui.

[edit] Family Members

[edit] SpongeBob's Family

  • Mr. and Mrs. SquarePants - SpongeBob's parents, made their debut in "Home Sweet Pineapple", where they came to pick up SpongeBob after nematoads ruined his pineapple house. They later appeared in "Culture Shock" as they watched the Krusty Krab talent show, and in "No Free Rides", where Mr. SquarePants kissed Mrs. Puff 's hand and gave his son a boatmobile for passing his driver's test. Mr. SquarePants has a moustache and wears thick glasses, is fat, wears a white shirt and brown pants pulled up to his stomach. Mrs. SquarePants has black hair and is dressed in a purple matchbox dress with matching sleeveless pantalets and has a pearl foot. Mr. SquarePants is voiced by Tom Kenny and Mrs. SquarePants is voiced by Sirena Irwin. It is inferred that SpongeBob's parents do not live in Bikini Bottom.
  • Grandma SquarePants - SpongeBob's grandma and Mr. SquarePants' mother (voiced by Marion Ross). She appeared in "Grandma's Kisses". Grandma SquarePants tends to dote on her grandchild. According to the book, "Camp SpongeBob," SpongeBob was always sent to his grandma's during the summertime.
  • Grandpa SquarePants - SpongeBob's grandfather and Mr. SquarePants' father (voiced by Tom Kenny). He made his first appearance in "Rock Bottom". He is known for his wise sayings, in which SpongeBob remembers: "If we were meant to fly, we'd have propellers on our heads or jet engines on our backs." and "Don't chase after a bus, especially one that's going up at a 90 degree angle." To date, his appearances have been only in flashbacks.
  • Todd SquarePants - SpongeBob's cousin who officially (and only) appeared in the Story Reader book, The Never-Ending Stay. He was to stay in SpongeBob's house forever but Todd left in the end after being offended by SpongeBob. He is voiced by Tom Kenny.
  • Sherm SquarePants - Mr. SquarePants' brother and Grandma SquarePants's other son. Sherm was first mentioned in the episode "Krab Borg".

  • Mr. Star - Patrick's father. Voiced by Thomas F. Wilson.

[edit] Squidward's Family

  • Mrs. Tentacles - Squidward's mother. She made a cameo appearance in "Fools in April". She says "You stink!", possibly indicating a bad childhood, in a flashback of when Squidward pulled a bad April Fool's prank on SpongeBob, which occurred a short time before he realized his mother was there. She made her first live appearance on the episode, "Krusty Towers", because Squidward wanted cookies like mother used to make. She made a small appearance in "Ghost Host" when the Flying Dutchman haunted him. Mrs. Tentacles also resides in an Easter Island head similar to Squidwards'; the only difference is her home has womanish curly hair.
  • Mr. Tentacles - Squidward's father. He has not appeared on screen, but was mentioned in "Krab Borg" when Squidward claimed that his father loved him very much.
  • Squidward's House - Not part of his family, but is owned by Squidward. Shown living or moving in episodes such as "The Secret Box"and "Good Neighbors".

[edit] Mr. Krabs' Family

  • Mama Krabs - Mr. Krabs' mother and Pearl's grandmother. The episodes that have featured her have shown her to be very strict and no-nonsense. In "Sailor Mouth", she makes Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob, and Patrick repaint her pink anchor home as punishment for foul language, and in "Mid-Life Crustacean", she grounds her son for the night after he steals her bloomers. In "Enemy In-Law", she briefly dates Plankton, but turns down his marriage proposal. She is voiced by Paul Tibbitt in her first two appearances, but is voiced by Sirena Irwin in her third appearance.
  • Mr. Krabs' Father - Not seen, but it was reveled in "My Pretty Seahorse" that he gave Eugene a dollar when he was five that he loved. He is also appeared in an old picture in Mama Krabs' house.

  • Mr. Puff - Mrs. Puff's deceased husband; he was turned into a lamp by a fisherman (as seen in "Krusty Love"). In The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, there was a pufferfish made into a lamp that came to life; that may or may not have been Mr. Puff, though it is highly likely that it was not.

Primitive Patrick
  • Primitive Patrick - Patrick's ancestor, before Pattar. He is one of the first jellyfishers.

[edit] Advanced Prehistoric Era

These characters appeared in "SpongeBob B.C. (Before Comedy)". They have the physical characteristics of a Neanderthal, and have one protuberant, square tooth:

  • SpongeGar - SpongeBob's ancestor, who looks like SpongeBob but with somewhat different clothes and with a five o'clock shadow.
  • Gary - Gary's ancestor. SpongeGar's pet. About fifty times the size of modern Gary. Most people think his name is Tobanga Gary, but Tobanga is a BC-esque form of "come on". As heard in Ugh "Tobanga Gary! (Gary doesn't come) GARY! Tobanga!
  • Pattar - Patrick's ancestor. Large jaw and Neanderthal-like brow.
  • Squag - Squidward's ancestor.
  • Krabs - A possible ancestor of Mr. Krabs. They run around saying "Money, money, money, money." One was killed when SpongeGar squashed it. Later in the episode, various of them appear when a rock is lifted.

[edit] Medieval Era

These characters appeared in "Dunces and Dragons (Lost in Time)":

  • Squidly - Squidward's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather. King Krabs's court jester, who curses his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson to never be able to play the clarinet properly.
  • King Krabs - Mr. Krabs' and Pearl's ancestor, the king of Bikini Bottomshire.
  • Princess Pearl - Mr. Krabs' and Pearl's ancestor, the daughter of King Krabs.
  • Planktonamor - Plankton's ancestor, an evil wizard. He is the rival of King Krabs.
  • Medieval Sandy, a.k.a. The Dark Knight - An ancestor of Sandy's. Oringinally a servant of the evil Planktonomor, she turns good after being spared by SpongeBob after defeat. Unlike her descendant, she does not need an air helmet to survive underwater; no explanation for this ability is ever given.
  • Karen - Karen's ancestor. A crystal ball.
  • Blacksmith - The smithy that made SpongeBob and Patrick's armor. He resembles the Tattletale Strangler, from "SpongeBob Meets The Strangler."
  • Leech - Gary's ancestor, a leech that is only shown in one scene, without a shell and sharp teeth.
  • Dragon Jellyfish [1] - A giant, jellyfish-like monster with ten long tentacles, a pink/purplish red body and sharp dorsal fins like sharks, created by Plankton. He is indestructible and able to shoot a fiery, electrical, radioactive lava-like substance. His weakness is Krabby Patties.

    • SpongeTron Z
  • Patron - Patrick's descendant. He is two-headed and likes jellyfishing just like his ancestor, Patrick.

[edit] Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy Characters

[edit] Basic/Advanced Prehistoric Era Animals and Other

  • Alarm Fish: Several large prehistoric fish that wakes up SpongeGar in the beginning of Ugh. They make the same loud alarm as his descendant's makes. They look like the still living Prehistoric fish, the Coelacanth, excluding the large size. They only appear in the Advanced Prehistoric Era along with SpongeGar & others in SpongeBob B.C. (SpongeBob Goes PreHistoric).
  • Primitive Jellyfish: Although they don't appear in SB-129, Ugh, or anywhere else in the Spongebob Media, however, a smaller-than-normal pink jellyfish made an short appearance in SB-129, in which Squidward goes back in time and invents jellyfishing to Primitive Spongebob and Patrick (because, they won't stop torturing themselves with the jellyfish). This could be the earliest jellyfish discovery in the series, but earlier when Squidward first goes to the past, an ancient shellfish at looks like the jellyfish swims in the distance for a short time. This could be the True ancestor of the jellyfish. It could have evolved in to the present day jellyfish, but it's uncertain. The early (Shellfish) jellyfish looks very close to a true extinct shellfish, the Ammonite. The Critter appears in the first scenes of prehistoric Bikini Bottom in SB-129. It also appears to the beginning of Ugh.

[edit] Animals and Other Creatures

  • Worms
    • Alaskan Bull Worm - A giant pink worm, described as "Big, Scary, and Pink!" It appeared in "Sandy, SpongeBob, and the Worm".
    • Mr. Doodles - Mr. Krabs' pet worm. He was first shown in "Sandy's Rocket," but his name was first mentioned in "As Seen on TV." He is the undersea equivalent to a dog (just as Gary is equivalent to a cat).
    • Rex - A bluish green worm adopted by SpongeBob to replace Gary in "Dumped"; ends up ditching SpongeBob in less than 10 seconds.
    • Guardworm - A very vicious worm with a black chain collar, it guards the junkyard where Mr. Krab's mattress was dumped. Appears in "The Lost Mattress".

    • Cricket - A cricket who is one of Sandy's pets.
    • Snakey - A snake who is one of Sandy's pets. Eats mice.
    • Mouse - Eaten by Snakey.
    • Spider - Appears in "Scaredy Pants"
    • Wormy - A caterpillar who is one of Sandy's pets. Befriended SpongeBob and Patrick in "Wormy". Wormy turned into a butterfly and caused a panic after the citizens of Bikini Bottom thought it was a monster.
    • Dog Who Speaks - Is mentioned twice in "Patty Hype". He lives at the Shell Shack and can speak and sing. However, none of the townspeople know what it is.
  • Jellyfish - Creatures who wander around Jellyfish Fields. They "sting" other creatures by electrocuting them.
    • King Jellyfish - A large purple jellyfish with a crown. It is attracted to queen jellyfish and very much enjoys pie. Its scientific name is Cnidaria rex.
    • No name/Friend - A blue jellyfish that was later renamed "Friend". The last jellyfish SpongeBob ever caught. Creates blue jelly.
    • Queen Jellyfish - A large pink jellyfish that appeared in the episode, "Jellyfishing". In "I'm Your Biggest Fanatic", there is a robot version of this jellyfish.
    • Twelvy - A jellyfish named by SpongeBob in the episode, "Jellyfish Hunter." So-called because he was the twelfth one caught that day
    • Big Lenny - A dangerous jellyfish, with nearly every sting being fatal. However, Doctor Mannowar actually lived through it, and is the only person to ever accomplish this so far. Big Lenny is seen in "I'm Your Biggest Fanatic" as a picture and in the PC game "Operation Krabby Patty" during the jellyfishing game with Sandy and Patrick.
  • Snails
    • Jerry - A realistic-looking snail pulled out of SpongeBob's pocket in "Dumped".

    • Snellie the Snail - Squidward's pet. First appeared in "The Great Snail Race". She fails Squidward in the race and loses to Patrick's rock. In "The Sponge Who Could Fly" Mrs. Puff's pet snail is similar to her. Her colors are pale blue navey and purple.
    • Rocky - Patrick's pet rock; the winner of "The Great Snail Race". Since it was a rock and can't move, it is unknown how it won; a logical explanation being that Patrick moved it up there, however it didn't seem so.
  • Clams/Scallops/Shells
    • Junior - The orphaned scallop adopted by SpongeBob and Patrick in "Rock-a-Bye Bivalve".
    • Shelly - SpongeBob's pet scallop. Not to be confused with the one from "Rock-a-Bye Bivalve". SpongeBob keeps it in a bird cage in his bedroom. Its name was revealed in the SpongeBob: The Complete 1st Season DVD collection.

    • Sea Bear - A large animal with the body of a fish, claw-tipped fins, and the head of a grizzly bear. Squidward does not believe in the sea bear's existence; however, SpongeBob and Patrick are fervent believers, having read about them in the Bikini Bottom Enquirer (Article: I married a sea bear) and Fake Science Monthly (Article: sea bears and fairy tales are real). There is a wide range of things that can anger a sea bear, including: Playing the clarinet badly, waving a flashlight around, eating cheese (cubed, sliced is fine), stomping around, wearing a hoop skirt, clown shoes or a sombrero in a goofy fashion, screeching like a chimpanzee, running, limping (they hate that more than running), and crawling. The only thing that can prevent a sea bear attack is an anti-sea bear circle. The sea bear that appears in "The Camping Episode" takes an immediate dislike to Squidward, after he unwisely does everything that SpongeBob and Patrick warn against. It also attacks him simply because it doesn't like him.
    • Sea Rhinoceros - A creature with the body of a fish, and the head of a rhinoceros, these creatures are bigger and meaner than Sea bears and are attracted by sea bear attacks. The only way to protect yourself from a sea rhinoceros is to wear anti-sea rhinoceros undergarments. Also seen in "The Camping Episode."
    • Sea Urchin - Appears in "Nature Pants". Coming in contact with them causes itching, similar to poison ivy.
  • Other
    • Bubble Buddy - A sentient soap bubble created by SpongeBob when he felt alone. Appeared in "Bubble Buddy". He also appears in the video game Battle for Bikini Bottom, teaching SpongeBob new bubble moves. Bubble Buddy likes bendy straws, funny jokes, and diet shampoo. He is very picky about his Krabby Patties. He likes no cheese, no crust, pickles to the left, four squirts of ketchup, wheat buns, non-deli lettuce, and farm raised tomatoes; carnival style. He is lactose intolerant, and is naturally nervous around pointy objects. His birthday is October 9.
    • DoodleBob - A crude drawing of SpongeBob that came to life in "Frankendoodle". He was a psychotic 2-D drawing created by SpongeBob, as the means to play a prank on Squidward. After a boat going artist (played by Mr. Lawrence) dropped his pencil in the water, it was found by SpongeBob and Patrick, who discovered its had the ability to bring its user's works of art to life. SpongeBob then drew a crude self portrait, which he christened Doodlebob. Doodlebob proceeded to commit various atrocities (e.g. beating up Squidward, trapping SpongeBob and Patrick in a hole) before being partially destroyed by his creator via rubbing him out with the eraser. However, the arm survived. It tracked down SpongeBob and the "magic pencil", drew himself (adding a pair of angry eyebrows) and then tried to erase SpongeBob. After rubbing out SpongeBob's behind and destroying part of the pineapple, he was stopped after being trapped on a piece of paper. He also appears in the non-canonical Nicktoons Unite! video game as one of SpongeBob's moves in the GameCube version.
    • Rocky - Patrick's pet snail, whom he entered in "The Great Snail Race"; Rocky appeared to actually be a rock, but managed to overcome this setback to win the race. According to Patrick, he "has nerves of steel".
