Lincoln High School (Sioux Falls)

Lincoln High School is a high school located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Enrollment is currently at 1,917 students. Lincoln was included in the list of the top 1200 public schools in the U.S. by Newsweek in their May 8, 2006 issue, ranking just short of a thousand.[1]

[edit] Ping-Pong Club
One of Lincoln's largest clubs is the Lincoln High School Ping-Pong Club. It boasts 50 members and is the first high school table tennis club in the state of South Dakota. The club was co-founded during the 2005-2006 school year by Andrew Wald and Josh Oppenheimer, and continues to this day to be held Fridays after school from 3:30-5:00 at the Center for Active Generations.

The Patriots had an undefeated season in 2005 with the theme 'Revolución.' This year's show, entitled 'Carnaval,' is a quick paced show that mimics the party scene of Brazil, much like Mardis Gras in the United States. The band features 256 members, composed of winds, brass, colorguard, front ensemble, and drumline. Additionally, the band performed in the 2005 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California with over 300 members. The 2006 season was another undefeated year for the band, its second consecutive year with that distinction.

In addition to a yearbook, Lincoln High School has a monthly student newspaper, The Statesman.
[edit] Student council/social committee
The LHS Student Council and Social Committee members are elected by the entire student body, and are an important part of everyday life at LHS. Students organize activities such as dances and fundraisers. Other activities that the Social Committee helps organize are: Java Jive, Boo Bash, Open mic night, Leprechaun Slam-a-Thon, and numerous dances.
[edit] Oral interpretation/debate
In the 2005-2006 school year, LHS had a very successful season in both Debate and National Forensics League. National Qualifiers for Debate included: Renugan Raidoo, Alicia Smith, Ryun Thronson, Cody Alexander, Joshua Oppenheimer, Mason Maxwell, and Kyle Powers. National Qualifiers in Oral Interp included: Ali Horsted, Hannah Sorenson, Christopher Garcia, Andrew Schnabel, and Alexander Hartman. The Oral Interp team is led by Bryan Hagg. This year's oral interp team is very large, composed of over 75 students.
