Landmaster (Star Fox)

- For other uses, see Landmaster (disambiguation).
The Landmaster is a tank used by Fox McCloud in the Star Fox series of video games. It has appeared in two games so far, Star Fox 64 and Star Fox: Assault. Its controls are, for the most part, much like the Arwing. However, the tank turns a little slower. Jets on the bottom of the tank allow it to turn quickly and barrel roll, and if both jets are fired the tank can hover upwards.
In both games, the Landmaster is available in multiplayer mode.

[edit] Landmaster in Star Fox 64
The Landmaster tank in Star Fox 64 was only used on two missions, Titania, where the player was forced to use it because of the sandstorms that covered the skies and on Macbeth, in which the player needed to follow an enemy train. The Landmaster design was very basic, it had a single cannon capable of shooting several laser-balls per second or Nova bombs. It also had two traditional tank treads. The camera angle could not be changed. It had limited flying capability with its jump jets. In this game, the Landmaster did not create a deflection shield when barrel rolling.
Landmaster Schematics, provided by the official Star Fox 64 player's guide:
- Length: 17.5 sm (space meters)
- Height: 8.5 sm (space meters)
- Max speed: 207 skm/h using booster (space km/h)
- Armor: .65 sm front/rear, .45 sm sides
- Armaments: T&B-J2 Laser Cannon (1) + Smart Bomb Launcher (1)
Notes: Both the Landmaster and the Blue-Marine use propulsions system components originally developed for the Arwing. All three can synthesize their own hydrogen fuel for their plasma engines, giving them extended operating ranges.
[edit] Landmaster in Star Fox: Assault
The Landmaster's appearance in Star Fox: Assault improved greatly: The design looks more complex and the turret can now swivel in more directions which makes it more effective. It now has four all-terrain wheels instead of traditional tank treads, which decreases traction but inceases mobility, and its barrel roll technique now creates a deflection shield around the vehicle. Unfortunately, it no longer uses Nova Bombs, has a slower rate of fire, and has lighter armor. It also has been modified to be an anti-aircraft vehicle.
[edit] Appearances on other games
There is a "Landmaster" trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
