Water type: hard water, accepts most water types
Feeding: omnivorous, eats just about anything that fits in their mouths, but they particularly like bloodworm(live is best). IMPORTANT: their diet must include some meat, even if not much.
Breeding: prolific breeder, breeds in caves such as coconut shells and flower pots,will lay eggs on roof of cave. Female guards the eggs while the male guards the territory. lays 100-200 eggs. Both parents tend the fry, but the male does most.
Sexing: males are larger and more brightly coloured,except when the female has eggs.
Compatability: keep in pairs. relatively peaceful but is quite teritorial when breeding.
Tank space:A large tank with good cover is needed for multiple pairs, but a smaller tank is fine for single pairs.
