User:King of Scarecrows

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The King of Scarecrows has many identities, though King of Scarecrows is most commonly used, as his original first name is unknown. Past aliases have included Steve Grene, Tyler King, Cosmo C. Cosmo, Grievous Steve, Ersatz Moth, Oswald Gravenson, Murray Bagelson, Theodore Mugswallop, and Omicron Seven, among others.

He was born on August 3, 1914, in a small township in Caucasia. Little is known about his life up until the age of 16, when he was crowned. It is, however, widely agreed upon that he was not born into any sort of ruling class, because the Scarecrows were known to disapprove of "noble" bloodlines. He is one of the only Men known to speak the language of Scarecrows.

Upbringing

He was birthed at noon exactly on August 3, 1914, in Sunderland, Caucasia. His mother, Beatrix Umbria, nearly died during labor, and the two midwifes both fainted, leaving his father to deliver him.

As stated previous, little is known about the King as he was raised. Experts speculate that his life was an easy one, for though his family was not rich, they were far from poor. He would have led a simple life; most of the work coming from doing some of the farmwork if a laborer was ill.

It is known that his father, Ichabod Umbria, died when the King was quite young, though no exact date has been revealed. It is unknown how the King reacted to this, though most assume that he cared little or none at all.

It was recently made aware that at the age of 12 he left his village for two months, alone. No documentation of where he went, or what he did, has ever been found.

Crowning

On October 17, 1930, he was tending to a dying corn field because the normal laborer was ill when he noticed he was next to the Scarecrow. He paused, and looked at it. To it, he said (and this is only known because the Scarecrows keep such meticulous logs of the days): "Oh, I wish the laborers would come and do this. I don't have the stamina for it." The Scarecrow looked down upon him, for it was taller, and then stood back up straight.

The King dismissed this as wind, although he had felt no breeze and the corn was certainly still. However, his mother called to him from the house, saying that the sick man was here, cured, ready for work. The King looked at the Scarecrow and walked away.

Later that afternoon he told his mother about the odd incident in the field, and with a gasp she explained that he must be able to speak the language of the Scarecrows. Few Men were ever able to do so (most of those who could speak Scarecrow were Cephalopods, Narnians, and of course the Scarecrows themselves).

It was that night, at dusk, that several Scarecrows (including the one from his own corn field), Cephalopods, and a Unicorn converged upon the King, and crowned him rather unceremoniously as King with a Straw Hat. This Hat has never been seen since the crowning, as it was removed to an undisclosed location soon after the coronation.

As King

Once made King of Scarecrows, he set off with the Scarecrow from his field (whose name was Brut) to live in the great palace of the Scarecrow King, Epopisiger (from Latin roots niger, meaning black, and epopis, meaning bird) Hauterrito (from Latin roots haud, roughly meaning none, and territo, meaning terrifying), or, roughly, Crow's Mis-Haunt.

The Crow's Mis-Haunt overlooked a large purple crag from a jutting moutain. Historians believe that it was in fact still in Caucasia, though likely in the snowy reaches of the North. The Castle has never been found. It served as the base of command for a larger, more advanced civilization than the one of Men at the time. Many people assume this to be a sort of "underground culture," though it was quite above ground.

Brut became the loyal No. 2 to the King, and for several years instructed him on the ways of those who spoke Scarecrow. Through letters unaddressed and logs written in emerald ink, it has been discerned that Brut made the King aware that though Scarecrows were the backbone of the alternate society, they had never ruled, save for Holl, a Scarecrow long dead who founded a sort of league that later grew into what the society is today.

As King, it was his job to keep the various factions of the society at peace, and it was a difficult job indeed. He found that many people knew him by name alone, and not face, so he adopted many aliases to get first-hand accounts of disturbances without being bowed at all the time. He was clever in keeping each one of the personas up to date on such things as families "back home," correspondences, and all sorts of other things too numerous to mention that come with leading seperate lives.

He did not, however, merely change his name, for there were those who knew his face. Luckily, Brut was experienced in Sorcery, and was able to give the King the gift of Impersination. Using this gift, the King could appear as anyone he liked, or make up an entirely new person.

He generally kept the peace. Rarely ever was there a major dispute over anything under his rule, and none of the citizens of the Main Society (as it was called) ever got wind of the Kingdom.

In 1940, at the age of 26, the King invented
