[edit] Venting my frustrations
Recently, I have seen a trend (particularly in the Star Fox articles) of distilling and consolidating large amounts of information, removing useful tables and bullet lists, and otherwise deleting a lot of the hard work that I and other Wikipedia editors have done here. While I understand the need to keep articles concise, factual and on-topic, it's become apparent that nobody can completely agree on the standards that should be used here.
As an example, the Star Fox Command article has recently been undergoing "renovation" that has already undone a LOT of my work, and promises to continue doing so. The reason for this is supposedly because "Wikipedia is not a game guide". Now, yes, I agree that Wikipedia should not be a literal copy of the instruction manual or strategy guide for a game, but there's a significant difference between documenting a game (and especially what makes that game noteworthy) and writing a strategy guide about it. And I believe the people who are setting and enforcing the Wikipedia policies on these topics are both going too far in doing so, and are working at cross-purposes to the WP community. Too often, a large amount of legitimate work is deleted just because one person (usually a sysop) "thinks" it's not necessary. So far, nebulous policies such as NPOV fail to account for this.
I like the system that's used over on the smaller Homestar Runner Wiki (based on WP, but specifically for all things Homestar Runner). Over there, if there's a disagreement over an inside or real-world reference, the registered users are given the opportunity to vote on the item's relevance, using a process known as STUFF (Select The Usable Fun Facts). I think that Wikipedia would seriously benefit from such a system.
Because as it is right now, I'm getting kinda tired of people wiping out my efforts to clean up, expand upon and otherwise enrich the articles I work on. It really tends to discourage me from continuing to be a member of this community.

Recent comments by a couple of the admins in a discussion on Gaming article sterilization have basically made it clear that they're not going to consider changing their policy, so I'm fairly unlikely to be making substantive edits to any articles (video-game or otherwise) from here on out. I don't really like the current policy, and I don't like the fact that my edits are now subject to arbitrary decisions with little or no peer review. I'll be content with fixing grammar and spelling errors for a while.
