Kiamo Ko
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kiamo Ko is the ancestral home of Fiyero, the prince of the Winkies in both Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Macguire, and Wicked the Musical. It is in the land of Vinkus, and it is where Elphaba goes in the end of the book/play and confronts Dorothy. It is also speculated that this is the same castle where the Witch is killed in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.
The Vinkus is governed by several clans, led by men, with Kiamo Ko as the ruling seat. During Fiyero's absence from Kiamo Ko, his wife Sarima spends most of her time inside the castle, guarding her sons Manek and Irji, in the fear that the rival clan leaders may kill them. Her daughter Nor goes mostly unnoticed. Sarima's eight sisters, named Two through Six, also live at the castle.
The Wizard's guards later invade the castle and kill everyone, except for Nor, which is later revealed in the end of Wicked and the beginning of Son of a Witch. It has apparently been abandoned since the absence of the Witch and the Vinkus family.
