Keladi Chennamma (17th century) was the queen who fought the Mughal Army of the Aurangajeb from her base in the kingdom of Keladi in the Shimoga district of Karnataka State, India. She gave shelter to son of Shivaji Maharaj infuriating the Mughal emperor Aurangajeb. In the battle that ensued later she successfully defended her territory from the siege. Her rule lasted for 25 years and Keladi kingdom was probably the last to lose autonomy to Mysore rulers and subsequently to British. She is considered as the epitome of the kannada women pride along with Onake Obavva and Kittur Chennamma.
