[edit] Affiliation Change?
For most of its existence, the station served as an ABC affiliate but became the NBC affiliate for Los Angeles on September 9, 2007, following the defection of long-time NBC station KNBC to the Disney and ABC.
I moved this content here for further discussion/evaluation because it is confusing. The date stated is in the future. Additionally, a check of KABC's website still shows an ABC affiliation. It's unclear what this content is trying to convey.Tobycat 18:28, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- That makes no sense, as KABC is owned by Disney and KNBC is owned by NBC Universal. I asked around to a couple people I know who work at both stations and it is not true in any way. -- FunkyChicken! 18:28, May 13, 2006 (UTC)

I took the liberty to fix-up the KABC-TV page, making it a bit more easier to read. What I did is that I put in the news personalities and newscast times into the News programming, and seperated the non-news programs into a newly-created seperate section. ShawnHill 23:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

KABC produces many hours of news. It is notable in the Los Angeles area for not showing car chases. Thus, when competitors KCBS-TV switch to police chase coverage, KABC continues on its regularly scheduled newscast, while staffers prepare a regular news story on the pursuit for airing on a later newscast.
The newscast generally covers more "serious" issues, such as politics, government, education, and the economy, than other Los Angeles newscasts. On election nights, KABC runs a special extended edition of the 11 PM newscast to cover election results. KABC's newscasts are well known in Los Angeles for the longetivity of its anchors and reporters, and based on that experience and serious coverage, it has become the highest rated newscast in the Los Angeles area.
KABC is one of the few ABC affiliates not to air Jimmy Kimmel Live.
